India’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Prabhat Kumar, on Tuesday briefed an all-party parliamentary delegation led by NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule on the state of India–South Africa relations and New Delhi’s ongoing diplomatic engagements in Johannesburg. The meeting is part of a wider effort by India to mobilize international support against cross-border terrorism.

“High Commissioner Shri Prabhat Kumar briefs the Hon’ble MP on various aspects of India-South Africa relations and various engagements,” the Indian High Commission in South Africa stated in a post on X.

The Group 7 delegation received a spirited welcome from the Indian diaspora upon their arrival at their hotel in Johannesburg. Patriotic slogans such as “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Jai Hind” echoed through the venue as members of the local Indian community gathered to greet the MPs with enthusiasm.

This visit to South Africa marks the second leg of the delegation’s four-nation tour, which began in Qatar. The mission’s central objective is to inform global partners about Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism and to explain India’s response through Operation Sindoor—a military operation launched on May 7 following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists brutally killed 26 civilians.

During their stop in Doha, the delegation held extensive discussions with top Qatari officials, including Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs; and Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti. They also engaged with members of the Qatari media, academia, think tanks, and the Indian expatriate community.

In Johannesburg, the delegation continues its diplomatic outreach, aiming to highlight the international implications of cross-border terrorism and build a coalition of support for India’s security stance. The visit underscores New Delhi’s growing emphasis on people-to-people ties, strategic dialogue, and coordinated counter-terrorism efforts with global partners.
